Garden Accents - The Little Things That Mean A Lot
Whether your garden design is along the lines of a Japanese-style or a Southwest festival of colour and flora, you can accentuate your garden by incorporating various garden accents. There are few things that more perfectly enhance the yard decor and stimulate the senses than quality-crafted garden accents. There are so many types to choose from that you really need to keep control and not get carried away.
Consider creating small areas of interest, the larger your garden, the more areas you can create. A bird bath tucked away in a quiet spot, a birdfeeder located where you can enjoy the cheerful songs of various birds, a trellis covered with nectar-filled jasmine, a shiny, glowing orb that reflects the beauty around, a well-situated sundial, a hammock located in a quiet, shady area where you can rest on hot, summer days, or a garden bench where you can read or drink in the beauty of your garden.
A water feature, a fountain, or a garden pond will add to the natural garden and tranquility. The addition of the sounds made by gently, gurgling water will increase the feng shui in your garden. The soothing, relaxing sounds that are made by visiting bees and birds will add to the melodic sounds of the water, creating an environment as audibly soothing as it is visually stimulating. These elements will also create a more humid environment for the plants and will entice wildlife as they will be drawn to an environment that meets their needs. Incorporating plants that are native to the area, the perennial and wildflower varieties, will prove to be a more hardy choice and will require less maintenance.
Finally, connect your garden to your home by including beautiful garden lanterns suspended on hooks or placed on stakes throughout the flower beds or along the pathway. These simple things will enhance the quaint charm of your garden and bring a magical atmosphere to your evenings.
These simple things and unique garden accents will add to the overall charm of your garden and harmonize your yard decor.
