Which type of crate is best?
Getting a beagle puppy on the 10th, and I want everything ready for when she gets here. I've read crating is the best way to potty train Beagles, but I've never crate trained an dog before. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me the best type, I think I'd like either a medal one like this:

I like the look of the fabric ones, they look more comfortable, and homey as opposed to the wire cage look.But I don't know if the metal ones are better. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!!
With beagles, I believe they are aggressive chewers and my dog is part beagle, so when we put him in his wire crate, I can't even leave a bed in him, and if the crate itself is fabric he would just eat through it.
But figure out your puppies personality if he or she is really calm and peaceful, get the fabric one, but if he or she is rambunctious and hyper, get the wire one.

How much fabric do I need to sew a large pillow?
I just bought a dog crate and I want to make a pillow/mattress/bed/pad for it and thought I might take a stab at sewing one myself. I want it to be 48x28 inches...how much fabric should I buy?
1.5 yards of 60" or wider or 3 yards of 30 to 58" wide fabric, assuming knife edges, no welt, and you want to not piece top and bottom.
