More About Dog Potty Training - Picking The Ideal Crate For Your Dog

Today, there are a lot of unique dog cages to pick from and you need to select one that's ideal for your pet. One major factor is the size of the kennel compared to the size of your dog. You wouldn't like it to end up being so little that your pet can barely move around, however, you don't want it to be too large either. The right size is one that allows your puppy to stretch out and has more than enough head room to fully stand up and turn around in, but one that's still comfortable for your puppy.

If your pet dog is a puppy, you might have to think about purchasing a small crate for now and a bigger one when he grows to full size. Even better, try to look for a kennel with a divider. That allows you to make it bigger as your canine grows up. In addition to sizing, there are a variety of different items currently available.

Hard plastic models are popular and also a design which is essential for airline travel. Plastic types are usually plastic on the sides, bottom, and top, with a metal door on the front side. This is generally the kind which the commercial airline requires, and most likely what you would utilize for automobile traveling because they are the most protective for your pet should a collision or rough roads occur. They might be a bit secluded because the hard plastic on the top and sides does not leave a lot of space for your pet to look out. Then again, your canine may like this since it offers a very personal home. They're great for dog training.

Metal and wire crates tend to be the styles which are employed in boarding kennels. You may also see them at canine events. They're simply wire all around and they most often have a plastic-type tray that you insert so your pet isn't standing on the wire which could really injure his / her feet. Wire models present an advantage since your pet is able to see out the roof and all sides. You can find very good crate covers which will offer a more private den. In case your budget doesn't allow a cover, you can cover the cage using a blanket or towel. Wire cages can be much easier to clean out too. Simply slide out the pan on the floor for washing. A wire crate is designed for dog crate training.

Soft crates are wonderful for those who spend a lot of time outside, and if you want to bring your canine friend to the store, the veterinarian, or perhaps a visit to the park or beach. Soft models are not recommended for flying and I do not think too many of them would be authorized by the airlines anyway. Also, they are not good to use as a standing kennel at home since they are so flexible. They are generally made from some sort of nylon fabric with zippers on top and also a front zippered "entrance" which you can use to take your dog in and out. They are really wonderful improvements to the crate family for those who have a well trained canine, but are not advised for initial training, especially for puppies that love to chew.

Fabric Dog Crate Questions

what should i do? ive been with my gf for 9 months ut about 4 months ago she got a dog?

and the dog sleeps with her its only a small rescue dog and i get the sofa she says she wants more mommitment from me but i think she should sort out her priorities first. i have brought the dog a fabric crate so it can sleep in that however i have yet to tell my gf whats the best way to introduce this without her getting all defensive etc?
thanks in advance

It's a very normal thing that people share their beds with their pets. It's not particularly hygienic, but it's not unusual.

Pets, especially dogs and cats, are like children to their owners, very dear to them and very strong companions.

She's not going to chose you over the dog, the dog is more vulnerable than you and you can look after yourself.

You can suggest the dog basket and see what happens, but in the end, you have to decide what's important to you.

Is her having a dog in her bed a deal breaker for you? If it's something you can't tolerate then you need to walk away. If it really doesn't matter, then just get used to it.

It's not unusual for partners to feel jealous of pets and the attention that they get. Think about what you feel, is there a slight bit of jealousy there? If there is then you need to deal with that by yourself and work on your confidence and self esteem. It's definately not ok to take your feelings out on your partner.

If you want to be with her then learn to love the dog too, spend some time togather, walk it, buy it some treats, teach it a new trick or behaviour, this will help you bond with it and it will be less of an issue for you. This will also be important to your partner.

Dog Crates (Kennels, Carriers, whatever you want to call it)?

Im getting a dog soon, and Im considering to get a crate for it to sleep in and stuff. I have absolutley to knowledge whatsoever of dog crates, brands, fabric or whatever, so can someone point me in the right direction of what to buy?
Also, where did you guys keep your dog's crate? In my room...outside...?

I have tried a couple of different kinds and I like the plastic ones best. They are sturdy, easy to clean, don't rust, can be used in the car too, and you can put a table cloth and decorations on top!

It is the best thing to teach a dog to go into the crate and be comfortable there. Even if you don't plan on crating the dog all of the time, they need to know how. What if there was a natural disaster like in New O? It is much easier to rescue and keep a pet safe if they will go into a crate!

The easiest way to teach and animal to go into the crate is to feed the pet always inside the crate and give them treats inside. Before I put my dog's dish down, I say "crate" and she happily runs into the crate for her meal! After a couple of days I would then close the door while she eats, then close it for 10 seconds after she is done eating.

Good Luck!
