Quick Tips for Making the Most of Your Home Greenhouse
Do you have a home greenhouse? If so you're a very fortunate individual. Greenhouses make for not just a lovely addition to your backyard or side yard but are also a great way to enjoy the hobby of gardening all year long. You also don't need to be digging in the soil to enjoy your plants and Flowers so this means less bending and stooping and is easier on those who find regular soil gardening uncomfortable.
While you might associate a home greenhouse with just the hobby of growing Plants And Flowers, there are some easy things you can do to make your structure a real part of your home and to get the most out of it, whether you really want to Garden or not! Here are some quick tips for making the most of your home greenhouse.
First, think of your home greenhouse as being part of your landscaping and not just a utilitarian building. If you look at plans these days for tool sheds and garages, you may notice that they're built to look aesthetically pleasing on the outside rather than the old eyesore they once used to be. They may be painted a beautiful color and have landscaping around them; their windows may be framed the same as the house windows and they might even have some hanging baskets out front! Think of how you can do the same with your home greenhouse.
Often people think of what they're going to do once they're inside the greenhouse but the exterior can be just as important. Can you do some landscaping around the home greenhouse so that it looks more attractive and inviting? If you put some topsoil down around the structure and plant some shrubs or flowers this can make the greenhouse looked like part of the home rather than just a glorified storage shed. If your home greenhouse is built on pavement, consider getting some large potted plants to put in front of it or to the sides for the same effect. Very often you can even put up some hanging flower baskets on the front of your building for an inviting look.
Many people consider their structure to be a place where they can not only garden but enjoy the outdoors while still being protected from the elements. If your home greenhouse is large enough you might want to consider putting some lawn chairs on the inside so that it now becomes something of a sun porch rather than just a place where you have potted plants. Being in the warm sunshine, surrounded by your beautiful flowers, can be a great experience just about any time of the year. You may be able to put those lawn chairs and perhaps even a nice table or shade umbrella outside your home greenhouse if the interior isn't large enough; this means you can sit out and enjoy the scent of your flowers as well as the weather.

Greenhouse Sheds Questions
Sulphur Candle in a garden shed?
Our garden shed is starting to smell very mouldy. The moment I enter the shed, 2 mins later (I'm only retrieving some garden tool), exited the shed and my wife says I smell mouldy on my clothes. This indicates that it the fungi spores are now airborne. I consider this as hazardous to health. Could a sulphur candle (I know these can kill fungus and spores) be placed in the shed, having taken precautions, i.e. placing the candle on top of a brick, surrounded with some water (for safety)? The label of a Sulphur Candle tin says Greenhouse, but nothing to say "garden shed". Will this be alright to use? If okay and after having the mould and spores being killed off, I can begin to dehumidify the shed, knowing that the air is safe. Any advice. Thanks.
Sulphur candle will work as far as killing the mold spores goes. It will not remedy the problem as your shed will still be damp so the mould will come back. You need to dry your shed out.
GreenHouse Shed for my turtles?
A little back round first - I have 3 box turtles, a russian tortoise and a Sulcata tortoise. I know he'll be a big fatty soon so i'm trying to make some more room. Anyway i'm thinking of buying a little greenhouse shed for my tortoises and turtles. I figure since its a greenhouse they would get plenty of sunlight and I could grow some plants at the same time. I would obviously have a shaded area and maybe a little water stream deal with a pump to make it more nature like. What do you think? Any suggestions would be great too. I'm also looking at a rubbermaid shed as well.
Thanks
you can not house sulcata's, box turtles and russian tortoises together, the box turtle has totally different housing and dietry needs, it eats protien whereas the sulcata and russian can not, a green house will be too hot and humid for a russian tortoise but it would be ok for the sulcata, you can not have a big water area either as the tortoises would stand a chance of drowning, if you could section off the green house in to 3 sections, and create the correct conditions for each tortoise and box turtle it may work, best of luck with your housing problem honey
