Is Running Electricity to Your Gazebo Canopy the Best Choice?

If you have or are planning to add a gazebo canopy to your backyard landscape you have many decisions to make, including the style, color, material it will be built from and the least of which is whether you will run electricity to your gazebo.

There are some excellent reasons why running electricity to your gazebo canopy is a must have, and there are also reasons why it's not necessary at all. What you need to look at first is what you will be using your gazebo for. What you are using your gazebo for and how you will use it will help you decide whether adding electricity is right for your gazebo.

Is your gazebo going to be away from the house, will it be a focal point in a garden? Will your gazebo be near the house, and basically an extension of your living space? If your gazebo is going to be a new outdoor living space you are definitely going to want to run electricity.

With electricity you will expand the uses of your gazebo canopy more than you can even imagine. Just imagine if you didn't have electricity inside your house, it will be much the same once you get in your gazebo space and realize just how much you love it. You will want to spend time in it and it will be much more pleasant with electricity. It will also increase the amount of time and when you can use your gazebo. It will extend your days, as well as your season.

Your decision in lighting is something you need to look at. You need to decide on lighting that's not only functional but beautiful as well. You can install pool lights in the floor for dramatic upward lighting that will look wonderful from far away. You can also set up a ceiling fan with lights ~ this does double duty, starting a nice breeze and adding light.

You will probably find once you start spending time in your gazebo you will want to spend even more time there. IF you have planned ahead and decided to put in electricity you may want to think about putting in a couple outlets. This will allow you to plug in your laptop, the blender as well as a lamp or two. This will make your new gazebo a wonderful space and an excellent addition to your home.

Once you have your your gazebo installed with electricity you will find it has become your favorite "room" of the house.

Canopy Gazebos Questions

WOuld you care if your officiant wore classy sunglasses in an outdoor wedding?

No canopy or Gazebo available.. just out in the sun.
Thanks. I'm not getting married, my hubby is an officiant... and several wedding this summer are outdoors and not under any shade.

Thanks again for your input.

As another oficiant, I ask you to look at it from another way. If someone has never met you husband and all they see is his picture in another couples album. Does he look more marketable with or without them?

When he is performing does he look good and comfortable in them and squinty and uncomfortable without them?

You only have one chance to make a 1st impression and every ceremony is 200 people who may have work for him or not. How does he come off best?

All that said and all factors taken into consideration. He should do what works.

On a side note I have seen officiants with pictures of themselves in sunglasses on their websites and personally it isn't something that I myself would do.

Where can I find a Gazebo Canopy Replacement for our 12 x 12 single tier gazebo?

I believe that it was purchased several years ago at a Sam's Club. I've tried Garden Winds but can't find one that looks like it plus they won't reply to my emails. I have even sent them photos. I also purchased one that was supposed to be guaranteed to fit all 12x12s but no go. That one was apparently made for one with a much taller top and had far too much extra material hanging. I have no idea where else to look. Can anyone help? We really don't want to buy another entire gazebo. Here is a link to two photos of it when it was in good condition:

and

Any information or tips would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Your appears to be a one-tier canopy, and maybe the one you got at Garden Winds was for a two-tier which would have made it too "long."

Hopefully these will help:

There is one on this page:
