I keep looking in the yellow pages and stuff by putting in dog adoption agencys or dog kennels but no luck.
What are those places called where you buy a dogs from?
I would go visit a local city shelter, SPCA, or rescue. Adopted dogs come spayed/neutered and they are up to date on their shots. This can save you a lot of time and money initially in terms of vet bills. Many adopted dogs also know some basic commands and may already be house-trained.
If you are looking for a purebred dog, go to the AKC website. The American Kennel Club has a breeder search page:

Don't get a puppy from an online store or from a pet store, it may have a lot more health and behavioral issues that will ultimately cause you a lot of stress and money.

I just got a new puppy too, but i have an irish wheaten terrier, they are medium sized dogs, but she is tiny at the moment too. i got her last week and we have her paper trained already. i suggest keeping her in one area instead of letting her loose over the rest of the house, as she will know where to go to do her business. i would use newspaper, over a big area, and when she gets used to going on it, gradually make it smaller and smaller, so she will begin to know exactly where to go. we did this with our last dog, and as soon as she got her vaccinations, we let her go outside, and she soon learnt how to ask to go out there. to get them to go on the paper, you need to know their routine, like my puppy always needs to pee after she's had a sleep. so take her over to the paper and tell her to go on it. however if she goes in the wrong place, don't rub her nose in it, tell her she's a bad dog, and carry her to her paper. when you want her to start going outside, take a bit of soiled newspaper out and put it on the grass, as this will teach her it's the new place to go. At night and when my puppy is left alone, we put her in my sisters old travel cot.
